  • Michelle Hunter

Great, trustworthy service. I have been bringing my cars here for around 20 years and never regretted it.

  • Richard Russell

We recently had our car booked in for a service but forgot to book the mot. We realised this on the day and the office kindly agreed to complete the mot for us as well, even though it was a really busy day for them. Hugely appreciated. We'll above and beyond, thank you.

  • Ashley Willis

Called up the garage today and had a pleasant phone call with Natalie. She was very helpful and noted everything I mentioned to her regarding my booking (warranty claim on my car). Clearly knew what she's talking about. Would highly recommend.

Maintenance Tips

Whilst timely servicing is very important, there are certain checks and maintenance you can do regularly to help keep your car in good condition.

  • Oil Checks

Check your oil levels around about every two weeks and ensure the levels are between the minimum and the maximum on your dipstick. If you’re going on a long journey, you should top up if needed there too.

  • Tyres

We recommend checking your tyre pressure every two weeks and also check the condition of each tyre to make sure there is no uneven wear and/or tyres aren't below the legal limit.

  • Screenwash

It is a legal requirement that your screen wash system is working. Use a good quality screen wash additive to prevent the water freezing in the winter time.

  • Windscreen Wipers

If your windscreen wipers make a noise or smear the screen when in use, it’s a sign they need replacing. We recommend you do this to ensure visibility is good in poor conditions.

  • Lights

Regular checks of your lights which includes headlights, brake lights, reverse lights and indicators is recommended. This will ensure you can see and be seen.

  • Battery

A car battery powers your entire vehicle, from the computer and ignition to the lights and radio. It’s therefore important to keep an eye on the battery to avoid problems.

Servicing FAQ

  • Why do you offer a ‘from’ price for servicing?

The ‘from’ prices we display for our car servicing are a guide to give you a rough guide. However, the actual price of your service can vary depending on several factors specific to your car, including its make, model, engine size, and its individual service history. To ensure you receive an accurate and fair quote that reflects your vehicle’s specific needs and avoids any unnecessary work, we prefer to have a brief discussion with you about your car’s history and the service you require. Please call us on 01953 602691 for a personalised quote.

  • Do you service electric vehicles?

We do not currently service electric vehicles.

  • What should I bring with me for a service?

Please ensure your wheel locking nut is in the car. Please also empty the boot of your car as we may need to access the spare wheel (if you have one) depending on which service you choose. Please also bring your service book so that we can update it for you.

  • Do you guarantee repair work from Postmill Garage?

We guarantee our parts and our labour. We want you to trust us as your local garage.

  • How long does the service take?

This will depend on which service you choose. We recommend leaving your car with us at 8.00am and we will call you once the service has been completed.

  • How much does a car service cost?

This really depends on your car make/model, it’s age, it’s mileage and previous service history. It may be that your car only needs a basic oil and filter change. We’re not going to charge you for unnecessary work so please call us for a chat. We can discuss your manufacturers specific recommendations (as they vary from car to car).

  • How often should I service my car?

Generally speaking, we recommend servicing your car every 12 months or every 12,000 miles (depending or which comes sooner). If you do a lot of miles each month then you might want to consider having more regular, smaller services. A regular service car can help it to run smoothly, as well as efficiently. We understand servicing a car is an unwanted expense, but a regular service can in fact save you much more by reducing the risk of unforeseen breakdown risks and longer lasting parts such as brakes or tyres.
